Preview bidding opportunities for our Music in the Mountains Auction. If you are not able to attend the event in person, you are welcome to submit a proxy bid. See instructions below, following the list of 2009 auction items. 


1 Alsop, Thibaudet, and Gershwin!  


Could it get any better than seeing Maestra Marin Alsop conduct the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in a program of classic Gershwin in the wonderful Strathmore Music Center outside Washington, DC, featuring the virtuosic French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet? We think not! Two tickets for the November 14 concert and an overnight at the nearby Crowne Plaza Hotel will make this dream a reality!

Award-winning SF architect Mark Jensen describes SF MOMA's new Rooftop Sculpture Garden as "a gallery without a ceiling." Jensen and designer Gretchen Krebs will give five guests a private tour of this dramatic new space that overlooks the San Francisco skyline and showcases the museum's sculpture collection. Local writer Laurie R. King is a literary icon, and here we have her short story A Venomous Death—about Mary Russell, Sherlock Holmes, and bees! This beautifully framed, original broadside is illustrated with a woodcut by Katie Wynne, letterpress printed by Lavendier Press, and signed by both the author and the artist!

Proxy bidding for thirteen auction collections is open to all! Final bidding will take place at the "live" silent auction at the magical Music in the Mountains event, to be held this year at the spectacular private retreat, Nestldown, on August 13th. You need not be present to win—you just need to have the highest bid!

To place a proxy bid, simply submit the MAXIMUM amount you are willing to pay by email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Within 24 hours you will receive a confirmation email letting you know that your bid has been received. During the event, your bid will start at the minimum bid. We will bid incrementally on your behalf, only if there is a competing bidder, and only up to your maximum bid. 

Proxy bidding will close at 6pm on Wed, August 12th.

The "live" silent auction will take place at the Music in the Mountains event on August 13th. Although the online bidding closes before the silent auction, your online maximum bid will be honored via proxy during the silent auction.

Online bidders will be notified of the outcome on August 14th.
