2009 Season Maestra Marin Alsop
has charted a season with a global perspective that includes
composers-in-residence from south of our border, across the pond, down
under, from the very cradle of civilization, and right next door. This
summer in Santa Cruz, these fresh new voices and some familiar friends
will come together with audiences to hear the extraordinary Cabrillo
Festival Orchestra give voice to their latest works. One World Premiere, five U.S. Premieres, and three West Coast Premieres
distinguish our 47th anniversary season. Soloists of great virtuosity
and indomitable energy will bring their passion to the stage—cellist Alisa Weilerstein; hyper-accordionist Michael Ward-Bergeman; percussionists Jamey Haddad, Cyro Baptista, Galen Lemmon and Steve Hearn; and trumpet player Craig Morris.
