Regarded as a rising talent in conducting, Karin Hendrickson begins a musical career that spans three continents.

Karin has recently completed her conducting studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London where she was twice a Gordon Foundation Winner.  She will begin in August as Assistant Conductor of the Sao Paulo Symphony in Brazil, a position that was created for her after her work with that orchestra and Music Director Marin Alsop in 2012 while at the Campos do Jordao Music Festival in Sao Paulo, and after Assisting them during their summer European tour of the BBC Proms, Snape Proms, the Rheingau Musik Festival, and the Concertgebouw.

This summer Karin will also be the Assistant Conductor at the Cabrillo Festival of New Music in Santa Cruz, California, and will make her own BBC Proms/BBC Radio 3 Broadcast debut conducting a concert of the music of Param Vir.

Recently Karin was one of four named winners at the International Conducting Competition in Macon, Georgia, USA, and past awards include talent grants from the Peabody Conservatory and the Mozarteum, Salzburg. She has been an Assistant or Cover Conductor for the Baltimore Symphony, the San Diego Ballet, and the Baltimore Opera.  Karin has prepared orchestras for Sir Colin Davis, Marin Alsop, Christian Thielemann, Jac van Steen, and Sir Mark Elder, and has conducted in workshop with orchestras such as the Russian National Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic, and the Winnipeg Symphony.

Karin has coached with Leif Segerstam, the late Sir Colin Davis, and was recently one of three finalists for the Taki Concordia Foundation Fellowship. As an Honorable Mention Winner she will receive professional mentorship over the next two years from the Foundation.
