| "The main event, however, was the cellist Wendy Sutter's singing, soaring loveliness in Songs and Poems for Cello, a work of Bachian proportions." —San Francisco Classical Voice |

This season the Festival's own principal pianist, Emily Wong, will open the concert with her own composition performed with members of the Festival Orchestra. Then guest artist Wendy Sutter will perform Songs and Poems for solo cello, a seven-movement work written for her by composer-in-residence Philip Glass. Sutter performs on “the Ex Vatican Strad,” a viola da gamba built in Cremona in 1620 by the great luthier Nicolò Amati and adapted to a cello by the master and his most famous student, Antonio Stradivari. The instrument is gifted with an extraordinary presence, and is sure to enhance an already unique experience. A short road trip away from home, and yet a world unto itself, Music in the Mountains promises an exquisite evening.
Attendance is limited and Full Subscribers will be given priority on a date-received basis. Auction basket items may be previewed here!
