Lunch with the Composers

Cabrillo Music Festival stands unique in its presentation of modern symphonic works and its dedication to living composers. And in recent years we have expanded to include contemporary productions that integrate opera, theatre, video, dance, chorus, and more. This gives us the opportunity to expand our Lunch with the Composers discussion to include other members of the creative team who bring these large-scale works to life. This year, Music Director Marin Alsop is joined by composers Lou Harrison and Jennifer Higdon, and Stage Director Michael Scarola, Scenic & Lighting Designer Matthew Antaky, Choreographer Maria Basile, and Concertmaster Yumi Hwang-Williams. Bring your lunch and your curiosity to Lunch With the Composers on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. inside the Civic Auditorium. Marin moderates this informal lunchtime discussion and takes questions from the audience in a stimulating repartee to reveal the stories behind the scenes.
